The Scientist

On day four of Transitional Kindergarten, in the after-school program, I became a scientist.

My whole life, I've dreamed of working in a lab and making new discoveries.

After years and years of preparation, I have finally achieved my goal.  And the possibilities are endless!

It's Official: Summer's Over

Today, I began my elementary-school education with my first day of Transitional Kindergarten.

Grace has done this all before, so I pretty much know what I'm getting myself into.

Grace is kind of a big deal because she's in second grade now.

I hope she doesn't ignore me on campus.

But she probably will.

Boston: Make Way for Grace and Ben

On our way back west, we spent a day in Boston and walked all over Boston Common.

We checked out the ducklings from that book we own, and we took a ride on a Swan Boat.

At Fenway Park, we met our favorite baseball player, Big Papi .... OK, Lego Big Papi.  It was still pretty cool.

And we watched the Red Sox beat the Cleveland Indians 6-2.

Grace and our friends Kitt and Perry were very into the game.

Me, not so much.

In my weak defense, the game did run past my bedtime.

It Just Adds Up

School starts next week, so while I was on vacation I reviewed my math skills to make sure I didn't lose any of my vast knowledge during the break.  One plus one equals two.  That's a fact!

We checked out books at the Nantucket library and climbed our favorite tree in the park outside.

Grace snuck in some reading time, when she got the chance.

And we swam at Step Beach as many times as we could fit in.

We could have used a few more days of this.

Do Your Job!

I like to be the foreman on any project I'm involved with.

I know how things work, and no one else really does.

I try to explain things to my minions, but they are frequently not very bright.  They just stare at me like they don't understand words.  It can be very frustrating.

If I've learned it one time, I've learned it a million times: if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself!
