Bring on the Olympics

I'm totally ready for the swimming events.

I'll admit I don't always follow the best training regimen.  A couple of my girlfriends, Mia and Sammie, came over the other day, and we sat in the pool and ate chips all afternoon.

We can't just do laps all day; sometimes we have to relax -- and maybe chew on a plastic boat if we want to.  We don't want to burn out in our early youth.

And, besides, bucket-lifts build muscles, I'm pretty sure.

First Lesson Goes Swimmingly

I just got home from my first swim lesson and couldn't wait to tell you about it.

It's all about getting me used to being in the pool and moving around in the water.  I was kind of zombie-like at first, but I got more comfortable after a while.

It's not that difficult when you have a nice swim teacher like I do.

My favorite thing about swim lessons may be the swim cap I get to wear.  It identifies me as a "splasher."  I can't wait for my next lesson.

Good Times

It's nearing 11:00 p.m. on the west coast and I'm still awake, so I thought I'd post a photo from earlier this evening.  I attended a free outdoor concert in a nearby waterfront park.  The performers were Shelby Lynne, one of my dad's favorites, and Lisa Loeb, who's one of those nostalgia acts for my mom.  I had a blast running up and rolling down a grassy hill while my parents listened to the music.  Good night.

Dinosaur Jams

This photo has been creating some buzz on Facebook, so here it is for my blog friends.  I'm modeling my new pajamas from Fuffy, with my new basketball-playing stuffed dino from my mentor, Keyla.

Here, I'm taking control of my room.  Watch out!

And here's a tender moment I shared with Dinosaur before bedtime -- caught by the paparazzi, of course.

Born in the U.S.A.

On Wednesday, I got my patriotism groove on for July 4th celebrating.

I hung out at the beach with my friend Zoe.  We made "peanut-butter soup" with sand and sea water.  The sun didn't come out, but we didn't much care.

Who needs the sun to have fun?

Later, I played some baseball, America's favorite pastime, getting some monster hits, and relaxed on the lawn.  When darkness fell, I partied on my friend Anya's roof deck and watched fireworks go off all over the city and up and down the coast.  It was crazy.

Mmm. Meat!

Pie 'N Burger in Pasadena may be my new favorite restaurant.  They do it right.  Nothing too complicated:  a burger, some cheese, a bun, and a chocolate shake.  Yum!

Oh, yeah, and lots of ketchup -- for dipping, of course.
