I'm Going to Disneyland!

Today was a big day for me -- and my parents. I skipped school and headed down to Anaheim for my first visit to Disneyland.
Before I talk about all the fun I had, I want to give a proper shout-out to Robert B. Sherman, who passed away today. Coincidentally, I was introduced to his music today during my Disneyland trip. If you don't recognize his name, all I have to say to you is: "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!" And, I will add, "It's a small world, after all." Well done, Sir. Well done. And thank you.

And now here's a recap of how I spent the day. I met Minnie Mouse, who happened to be standing out on her front porch when we were walking by. She's a sweet girl and took time out for a photo with me.

My very first ride at the park, for those of you who are keeping track of such things, was Dumbo, the Flying Elephant. I loved it. I also went on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (scary) and It's a Small World (awesome).

We met up with Aunt Bearbs, who is also a big fan of Disneyland. She and I rode the horses on the carousel and talked politics, while Mom made sure I didn't fall off. I chose Doubloon, the horse with the gold tooth, which allegedly was Walt Disney's wife's favorite. I must say, that's my favorite horse, too.

Later, I competed against my dad in a 3-D arcade shooting game over in California Adventure, where we also watched Muppetvision 3-D and rode on the Silver Zephyr. (I have no comment regarding who won the arcade game.)

Back at Disneyland, I checked out Winnie-the-Pooh's ride and the Haunted Mansion. And I finished the day with a dinner of churros and chocolate ice cream. Well done, Me.

Sun and Sand

Another sunny Sunday, another afternoon at the beach.

My parents and I biked down to Dockweiler, where I chased and got chased by the small waves.

The beach wasn't too crowded; I had my own patch of sand to look for the perfect rock.

Zoo Crazy

On Saturday, I headed down to San Diego, where Aunt B. welcomed me with a bit of her famous grafitti art.

As thanks, I shared my grapes with her.

I also got a chance to visit with Great Grampa Stan.

He says I'm cute. I don't know what he's talking about.

On Sunday, Bamma and Bampa took me to the San Diego Zoo -- a place I highly recommend. We saw all kinds of animals up close. Here, we're touring the zoo by bus, which is easy on the legs and gets you right up there with the giraffes.

Back on the ground, the Gorillas are this close!

Insert your own joke here. Something about how I look like a monkey ... or smell like one.

My First Stitches

Don't worry. I'm OK. (That's ketchup on my cheeks.) I just spent a few hours at the ER this evening. I got into a fight with a chair, and the chair won. As a consolation prize, I received a burger and fries from Del Taco, and I evaded bedtime for several hours. I earned it. The doctor and the nurse had to strap me down Hannibal Lecter-style. Only my nose poked through the covering for the doctor to do his work. And I was awake for the whole thing! My parents were ecstatic.

Gracie Takes Manhattan (Beach)

The sun was shining, so my crew and I headed down to Manhattan Beach for a lazy afternoon in the fresh air. First, we had lunch at the Kettle, an old favorite.

Then we headed down to the pier. I like the Manhattan Beach Pier; it's quieter than the Santa Monica Pier, but it's got more going on than the Venice Pier. I took a few moments just to watch the waves roll in.

Check out this shark outside the aquarium. Awesome!

All I wanted to do was go surfing, but my mom and dad said the water was too cold. I would have worn a wetsuit. Duh.

I had an epic time anyway.

I'm a Clown

Sometimes my styling can be a little off.

I can't be perfect every time out of the box. I'm just a toddler.

Anyway, I always make time for my books.

But being me can be exhausting, so I just have to chill.

Keeping Up with "Downton"

I could not wait for the Super Bowl to end so I could get home to watch the latest installment of "Downton Abbey." I just wish PBS would air it at a more reasonable hour. Not that I care, but my parents seem to think that I should go to bed around 8:oo p.m., and my program doesn't start until 9:00 p.m. What's a girl to do? I can't miss out on my Mr. Bates, Lady Mary, and Captain Crawley. I mean, seriously....
I'm obsessed!
